Early signs of a very good hopper season are starting to show themselves. It may not be a "Hoppaclypse", as everyone was calling for a few years ago - but we are already getting decent numbers of fish to look up for the big dry. We are hearing them in good numbers on the river and seeing some on the water. We have a few spots left and if you enjoy throwing terrestrials, this season looks to be a great one. Water flows look great and the weather seems to be cooperating nicely.
Here is another video teaser, filmed by Zack and Travis from Montana Wild, shot on location last season on the Madison River. Next June's Stonefly Season is already booking up - Will you be here?

Montana Fly Fishing Report
Great fishing has been the norm, and should continue well into the rest of summer. We are starting to see more and more vicious takes on various terrestrial patterns, and I would imagine as the rest of this hay in the valley is cut this month more and more hoppers will migrate to the river banks. We are in a bit of a transition right now between micro mayflies (Trico's and Psuedo's should hit any time) and the verdict is still out whether or not we will see Spruce Moths on the Big Hole this year. It's time to fish the good water effectively and pay close attention to the water temps as the afternoons get pretty hot around here. Take a photo of your fish and get them back in the water!

Emily and Tyler Cote sent us this thank you....
"We just want to say thanks for the incredible week we spent with you guys in Twin. Everything about the experience exceeded our expectations. Your guides, staff, food, accommodations, location and of course the fishing were all just incredible. Like I told Emily that day we were out on the spring creek, you guys gave us the chance to catch (and blow!) more big trout in one day than I have in all of my combined experiences as an angler. We were little nervous when we flew into Bozeman and saw high water everywhere, but you guys consistently put us on to fish and had a plan to work around what mother nature was dealing out after weeks of epic rain. As this was our first real destination fishing trip, we don't have a lot of experience to measure against - but I've got to say the bar has been set pretty high.
We already miss Montana and the crew at the Stonefly Inn and can't wait to get back. Next time we will try to recruit some friends to go along and we will absolutely spread the good word on our end. I learned a lot of really cool stuff and I count the whole thing as being right up there with one of the best experiences of my life. Thanks Rooster! " --Emily and Tyler Cote, Monmouth, Maine.
